Acupressure Points that will Help You to Maintain Your Health

Hello everyone!
It has been such a long time since I posted my last post. Anyway now I am back here with lots of information. I hope that it will help you.

Acupressure from Latin “acus ” which means “needle” + pressure is an alternative medicine technique similar in principle to Acupuncture. It is based on the concept of life energy which flows through “meridians” in the body. Acupressure is an ancient healing art using the fingers to gradually press key healing points, which stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities. Working on these points can help you get better quicker. You do not have to use all of these points. Using just one or two of them whenever you have a free hand can be effective. It’s important to drink plenty of warm water after the massage, helps to clear away toxic substances in our body. Acupressure was developed in Asia over 5,000 years ago. Using the power and sensitivity of the hand, Acupressure Therapy is effective in the relief of stress-related ailments, and is ideal for self-treatment and preventive health care for boosting the immune system. Acupressure releases tension, increases circulation, reduces pain, and develops spirituality and vibrant health. Acupuncture and Acupressure use the same pressure points and meridians, but Acupuncture employs needles, while Acupressure uses gentle to firm finger pressure. When these Acupressure points are stimulated, they release muscular tension, promote circulation of blood, and enhance the body’s life force energy to aid healing. Acupressure therapy can be used to relieve pain, fortify the sexual reproductive system, detoxify the body for greater health and beauty, and tone facial and back muscles.

Acupressure’s Popularity

acupressureAcupressure has become a more common form of health care service, especially in settings where patients are utilizing traditional medicine supported by alternative medicine. If you are an individual who is struggling to gain weight, and if you are in a program for weight gain, you may want to consider how acupuncture can be effective in assisting you with adding additional pounds. Gaining additional body weight is typically not a challenge for most healthy adults. For some, however, the complications with gaining weight may be associated with advanced physical and mental health complications for which acupuncture may be effective as a resolution. If you are struggling with the weight gain recommendations of your physician, then acupuncture could be a viable alternative.

Acupressure Theory

It is based on the concept of life energy which flows through “meridians” in the body. In treatment, physical pressure is applied to trigger points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians. Pressure may be applied by-hand, by the elbow, or with various devices. It is believed that through these invisible channels flows vital energy or a life force called Qi (ch’i). It is also believed that these 12 major meridians connect specific organs or networks of organs, organizing a system of communication throughout your body. The meridians begin at your fingertips, connect to your brain, and then connect to an organ associated with a certain meridian. According to this theory, when one of these meridians is blocked or out of balance, illness can occur. Acupressure and Acupuncture are among the types of TCM that help to restore balance.

How Does Acupressure Work?

Acupressure practitioners use their fingers, palms, elbows or feet, or special devices to apply pressure to acu-points on the body’s meridians. Sometimes, Acupressure also involves stretching or Acupressure massage, as well as other methods. During an Acupressure session, you lie fully clothed on a soft massage table. The practitioner gently presses on Acupressure points on your body. A session typically lasts about one hour. You may need several sessions for the best results. The goal of Acupressure or other types of Asian bodywork is to restore health and balance to the body’s channels of energy and to regulate opposing forces of negative energy and positive energy. Some proponents claim Acupressure not only treats the energy fields and body, but also the mind, emotions, and spirit. Some even believe that therapists can transmit the vital energy to another person.
Research into the health benefits of Acupressure is in its infancy. Many patient reports support its use for a number of health concerns. More well-designed research is needed, though.

There are many different acupressure points as well as many different patterns of disharmony that can lead to weight gain. It’s important to understand what your pattern of disharmony is that’s leading to the weight gain, if regular diet and exercise are not working.
